EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Company ABC was experienceing a major overhaul and shift in its leadership after its CEO resigned from her position.  Upon her resignation the company was left with a culture of  low morale and an unlikelihood for long term growth.  Change management was in the works for Company ABC and they had goals to build trust and positive morale within the company for all stakeholders, and improve company policies to correct inappropriate behaviors that were previously acceptable.  More importantly, the online social platform for Company ABC fostered negative communication that left the online community stagnant and psychologically unsafe due to its acceptable toxic culture.  As an instructional designer brought in to help with their change management, there was an obvious need to correct behaviors and improve morale within the company.  One of my solutions was to build a training for both in person or virtual settings to on digital citizenship to promote positive online behaviors between all stakeholders in Company ABC for their online platform.

challenges

Due to the amount of change that necessary, the training needed to be for all audiences in both virtual and online settings.  Furthermore, there were several ideas of what information needed to be presented to the faculty and staff as a whole.  Although the company had some idea on the goals and vision, more clarification was needed to target new goals.  The presentation needed to be concise and less than an hour.  This instructor led training had a quick turnaround and needed to be presented within 3 days.

SOLUTION

Using backwards planning, mind mapping and ADDIE, I collaborated with leadership to created specific goals.  Through surveys and interviews, I determined the knowledge, skills and mindset of the stakeholders in the company.  Throughout this project, I collaborated with the SMEs for clarifications to questions and points of ambiguity.  With a quick turn around of 1 week to present, I ensured there was enough time for everyone in company ABC to participate in this mandatory training.  Working with presenters, this information was adapted for both In person ILT as well as VILT.  After participants have completed the course, surveys will be sent to determine its effectiveness and approval.
